As students within a research institution (and particularly the STEM fields), we often aren't encouraged to reflect on representation and identity within the sciences. In this module, we will use a feminist lens to explore our experiences and positionality in academia. We will survey topics including diversity work and departmental culture, data feminism, deficit narratives in science, and Undisciplining and Slow Scholarship movements. These topics and efforts are central to the science we do and critical for transforming academia to center intersectional identities, experiences, and pluralistic knowledge production in STEM.
