Biodiversity and Ecosystem Function

In this module we explore the links between biodiversity and the ecosystem. We will begin with discussions of the topic, including a history of the field and the controversies surrounding it. In the first assignment, you will analyze a dataset of tree diversity and ecosystem properties compiled across tropical forests. In teams of two, you will formulate a question and hypothesis (and/or question), analyze data and present your findings. Your findings from assignment 1 (or the questions generated along the way) will inspire an experiment or observational study, which you will propose as a part of assignment 2.
